Don’t Get Timber Wet! / 木材は濡らさない

We Japan Homes have the Japanese carpentry culture that we try our best to keep timber dry.

Timber frame for residential construction is usually water/mould resistant to some degree so most of builders leave the timer under wet condition at their construction site.

However, if they are left for weeks in wet weather like this period of the year it may cause some problems such as expansion, contraction, etc. , especially for the floor structure because water stays on the floor.

Therefore, to provide the best quality of building we keep timber frame as better condition as possible.

Placing Plastic Cover Over Floor

Here is our construction site. Ground Floor frame is being erected.

We do not like to expose the floor to the wet weather so….

We places the plastic sheets over the floor.

We also put a roof above the staircase to avoid rain to fall in understairs.

Also cover the timber left above the ground for use.

We believe these kinds of small jobs are very important and finally lead us to the satisfying quality of work for our clients.

私たちジャパンホームズは、木材は濡らさないという日本の大工文化を受け継いでいます。ニュージーランドの住宅構造用木材フレームは、一応防水防腐工されておりある程度濡らしても大丈夫だといわれていますので、ほとんどのビルダーは現場でフレームを雨ざらしにしています。ただ数週間ほど、現在のような雨季に雨ざらしになっていると、収縮や膨張などの原因になるかもしれません。特に雨水が残りやすい床材は注意が必要です。そのような訳で、私たちは良い仕事をする為に、なるべく木材を良い状態に保つようにしています。
